I love Raya Ang Pow packets. Last year, I started collecting interesting designs of Raya Ang Pow packets for keepsake. They are mostly those that the kids received during Hari Raya Aidilfitri. Some were packets given for free by the banks, supermarkets, chain stores, etc. I do love the array of designs and colours.
Those are the ones that captured my interest. And among those in my collection is a special Raya packet that I got a few days before the last Raya from Emila Yusof :
She had a giveaway during the fasting month and I quickly signed up for whatever she asked for. It’s her personal design for Hush Puppies 2013 Raya packet. I also have a copy of her craft book for kids, which I bought years ago, before I knew what a famous illustrator she is. Her designs are so delightfully cute that she has experienced more than a few copyright infringements. Like the saying goes : Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. But in this case, it’s imitation for profit… And yes, even the ‘Angry Birds’ are not spared! I hope Emila will win in this fight for her rights.
All other extra/used packets, I turn into floss organizer :
If you would like to know more about Ang Pows and their practice here in Malaysia, there’s a nice article written about it at Penang Vacations (http://www.penang-vacations.com/ang-pow.html).
