Finally – I have managed to do more than just gaze in admiration at Margaret Sherry’s designs, I have started to stitch my first one! 😀 Thanks to the inspiring Margaret Sherry Lovers and Stitcher’s Blog.
It’s a cute Hedgehog in a pot from the Summer Fun booklet. A small design that shouldn’t take me long (yeah right!). Seeing the fractionals (not much, but still quite challenging) I wished I had evenweave fabric around – it’s definitely going to be in my wishlist this year.
I have most of the DMC threads, only need to buy 2 more. I’m using 14-ct Aida and haven’t planned how to finish it yet. I’m thinking of getting out of my comfort zone and avoid turning it into a card or framing it. I need to think out of my usual box. Ideas would be much appreciated.
So far, I managed to stitch this much yesterday:
Here in Kota Kinabalu, yesterday was a hot Sunday, and today it is even hotter. The weather man expected the cold spell to last until February, but I guess many people prayed hard for the rain to stop and so the sun is shining bright again. Probably due to the heat, there were at least 2 accidents today involving 3 vehicles each, along my usual route in the morning and at noon. So traffic was really, really bad. I miss the cold (22ºC-24ºC) weather. Everyone seemed calmer and serene then. Less accidents.
Unfortunately, the lower temperature (15.6ºC) came with risks, causing the death of more than 60 people in Thailand. And the rain that fell during those times also caused flooding in several areas in Malaysia. Therefore, the sweltering heat is much preferred, and safer, than the cool rainy days. I can’t imagine the searing cold felt by those living in places below 0ºC. Makes me think a lot about the present climate change.
I am thankful for all that I have. Let’s pray for peace, prosperity and happiness for all.
