I forgot to write about my IHSW activity on Monday… no surprise there.:D I was also supposed to publish this a few days ago, but I forgot to upload the photo. I must say, the wi-fi at McDonald’s here in Kota Kinabalu is terrible – whether at Api-Api, Sulaman or 1Borneo, I hope they’ll be improved soon. ‘Free wi-fi’ when there almost no wi-fi at all is awful service.
Luckily for me, I managed to do hours of cross stitching last Saturday, some of them while the kids were in the pool with Hubby, my brother and his wife. My brother and his wife just moved into their new duplex apartment and the kids were excited to try out the pool. The pool area was so nice and cool during the afternoon, and the afternoon breeze was so relaxing. I spent about half an hour stitching near the pool, and a few more hours in their living room while watching Taal, a Hindi movie featuring the lovely Aishwarya Rai. Also managed to undo a few mis-stitches…:D
I also had a few more hours of cross stitching on Sunday, interspersed with doing the laundry and cooking. Oddly enough, as Tatty Teddy is nearing its end, I start to procrastinate a lot, especially during the weekdays. I do enjoy doing this big thing (well, at least ‘bigger’ than all of my usual projects), but I don’t know why I’m not in a hurry to finish it despite my deadline. Separation anxiety, perhaps?
Since the original floss is Anchor, and I substituted it with DMC floss, there were a few trials and errors in respect of colour choices, and frankly speaking, more than a few unpicking of the stitches involved. Sometimes, I regret not using the actual Anchor floss – I had quite a challenging time of deciding the most suitable floss for some, although I had a conversion chart to refer to.
Another lesson for me is – I really must learn to use evenweave because an Aida bigger than 11-ct has such big holes and loose thread. I feel my finished project won’t look as nice up close. Still, I hope the recipient will be pleased…
