Cross Stitch Cards – The Chart Shop

Cross Stitch CardsEarly this year, I discovered the joy of cross stitch cards. Fabulous Ebayers supplied me with the fabric (see my previous article) and the aperture cards.  I will write about the super Ebayers that sold the cards later.

So far, I have managed to finish 9 cross stitch cards.  Thanks to many free patterns from www.cross-stitching.com / The Chart Shop and Michaels Stores, I started my humble collection.  Then I gained some confidence to buy the expensive, but worth-buying, Cross Stitch Card Shop magazine.  That was before I found pre-loved/used magazines online.  I shall also write about these wonderful stores later.

My first project was the Comedy Dog by Claire Crompton which I affectionately call Scruffy Dog.  I love this one the most because it’s clearly so cute, but it took quite some time for me to finish.  Look at the scruffy fur!  I gave it to my dear old school chum, Voo.  His current hairstyle is just as inspiring.  If you would like to have a look at the pattern, just visit the Chart Shop.  It requires only 4 types of floss and a stitch count of around 42 x 22.  Quite small.

Cross Stitch Cards - Romantic Girl

My second project is the Romantic Girl by Sue Cook.  I made 2 of them using different floss colours and different fabric. Let me say here – doing the second one was sooooo easy.  I did it in 1/3 of the time it took me to do the first.  Being familliar with the pattern really helped.  I also got the pattern from the Chart Shop.  This goes to my dear friends as Raya cards.  I hope they’ll not throw it away….

Cross Stitch Cards - BunnyThird is the Best Wishes Bunny by Debra Page, which I also made 2.  For adjustment purposes, as I didn’t position it nicely, I added the heart to one of them and lose the ‘Best Wishes’ in the other.  Just click here to see the pattern.

Then I stitched ‘All My Love’ by Cathy Bussi. It was supposed to be a Mother’s Day card, but I couldn’t finish it on time.  It’ll go to someone, someday.  Here’s the pattern.

All the above projects have 1 thing in common – they are relatively easy to do.  So, I didn’t have to fear creating a future ‘abandoned project’.
