Last Sunday was another special day for my cross stitching activity.
But first, my excuse for this late posting of my IHSW August activity (almost a habit now ;D). Yesterday was manic Monday, as usual, but a bit more of a whirlwind because the kids have been on a 2 weeks’ holiday and their Raya mood has not dissipated yet, so everyone (yep, including us parents) had to be swept out of the house early in the morning.
And to top it all, I forgot to take the ‘before’ photo. I really need to ‘bond’ with the camera, can’t seem to love taking photos. Doesn’t matter, I have not stitched Somebunny since the last IHSW. Ramadhan and Raya celebration have kept me pretty tied to much preparations.
So this was how Somebunny looked before Sunday stitching:
And this is the current progress:
As I mentioned in the last IHSW post, the chart calls for the use of 1 strand of floss (except on the pinkish nose part) although the fabric is a 14-ct Aida (usually, at least 2 strands are used). The aim, I guess, is to achieve a sweet, soft and dewy look for Somebunny. Not bad… I bow to the experts (Cross Stitch Card Shop magazine) on this matter. And gracious me – because of that, there are lots of leftover floss, enough for me to sew another Somebunny… yeay!
Now, I am waiting (and kept visiting and inquiring the Times Bookstore Warisan, KK) for the arrival of The World of Cross Stitching issue 206. It has been 2 weeks, but all I can see is issue 205 (which I have so far succeeded to resist the temptation to buy – the free gift is so unique!). I have also gone to Harris at 1B, but in vain. Tomorrow, I’ll try to look for it at Popular CPS. I am hunting for issue 206…
Why am I so obsessed with issue 206? That’s because they have :
And here’s a lovely finish to make my heart skip a beat (never too old for that):
Yep – Gorjuss! I really love that gal!
Am I being silly? Gosh, I am 40, yet I truly love her! I hope my girls will love her too … never mind, even if they don’t, I’ll still stitch her!
The truth is, I have been wanting to purchase Gorjuss kits on Ebay and have researched for the best price offered but had to put it on hold because of the Ramadhan & Raya (lots of expenses incurred during these period – not obligatory, but old habits).
Actually, I am ashamed to admit that, I have 1 Gorjuss chart (from a 2011 mag) in my collection which I would not have realised if not for my plan to sell my unused cross stitch magazines on Ebay. At that time, I wasn’t yet ‘in love’ with Gorjuss. While flipping through all the magazines, to make sure that there are no WIPs or my dream charts inside, I found a gorgeous Gorjuss chart. How embarrasing for me – another sign of a hoarder! And now I want another one … I am currently totally desperate to get my hands on issue 206…
Shame on me!
