This is the first – ever – bag I stitched, 100% hand-stitched, in about 10 hours. I used scrap fabrics which have been languishing in a box for about 5 years for the inner lining, and felt materials which I bought last year for the outer parts. Unfortunately, I forgot to take photos of the inner lining – not too bad, considering that the fabric was an inch shorter than required.
The cute Cross Stitch patterns, stitched on a 6 count Aida, are from pages 27 – 30 of Cross Stitch Crazy magazine, the June 2011 issue. But I usually don’t use the exact DMC floss, I improvise using whatever colour that I like.
For the straps, I used my spare grosgrain ribbons. The decorative felt flowers on the straps’ ends are there to cover the absolutely horrendous stitches I made to enforce the straps.
Phew! I am so glad that I have completed this! I just spent about 2 hours each day and when it was finally finished I couldn’t stop myself from showing off to my hubby & kids!
Do you think the colours too striking?
