Living in Kota Kinabalu, there are very few cross stitch stores available. So, I constantly find myself without the exact DMC floss (I have to substitute DMC B5200 with Ecru) or looking for Aida clothes (scavenged for Aida 14 from my ancient abandoned projects).
Fortunately, I found excellent Ebayers to fulfill my cross stitching needs. Sure, there are many reliable Ebay Sellers around, but I have never found a comprehensive Ebay Seller (selling fabric, floss and charts) stationed in Malaysia. So, I purchased from one Ebayer to another for different items, but then I can’t combine postage for the items.
Then I found some very good stores from Ebayers in UK and USA. My favourite Sellers are Rumplesdump Counted Cross Stitch and Shelalen’s Cross Stitch Shop . They constantly have items on sale in Ebay, provide courteous and dependable service and communications, and the postage is reasonable. I also bought some floss from an Ebayer in China but his store has closed.
Rumplesdump (based in California, USA) sells Aida/ Hardanger/ Jazlyn/ Jobelan/ Linen/ Lugana Fabric, Quaker Clothes, Other Evenweaves, Charts & Kits, Needles, etc. If you become a “Rumplesdump Frequent Buyer” , you’ll receive a $5.00 discount after you’ve purchased $50.00 of evenweave fabric, patterns, tools or accessories. For your info, Rumplesdump is currently offering a 20% discount on certain items such as c Jobelan 28 ct BEIGE 18 x 27″ Cross Stitch FABRIC (RM25.52), LINEN 32 ct LAUREL 11.5 x 17.5 Cross Stitch FABRIC (RM17.82), etc. Believe me, the fabrics were wonderfully delivered to my doorstep!
From Shelalen (based in North Carolina, USA) I bought this ‘SPRING PARTY – 40 PAGE GERMAN CROSS STITCH BOOK’ – very cute patterns. I am currently doing the one shown below on an 18-ct Oatmeal Fiddler Fabric. It’s a very nice fabric also purchased from Shelalen, and definitely yummy as it reminds me of an oatmeal biscuits. But I am planning a lot simpler arrangement than that. The hanger and ornaments are delightfully creative, aren’t they?
I also purchased ‘NEW SPRING GARDEN 45 PAGE RICO GERMAN CROSS STITCH BOOK’ (on the left), ‘GERMAN HEARTS & FLOWERS 36 PAGE CROSS STITCH BOOK’ (on the right), etc. Aren’t they lovely?
I write about these marvelous Ebayers as a recognition of their excellent service and as a note of gratitude. So, if you would like to expand your collection of cross stitch stuffs, do check out Ebay - it’s fun!
