My Precious Moments Books

Friday, November 5th, 2010

In my previous articles on Precious Moments, I wrote about the lovely figurines and more figurines.  But I also collect PM cross stitch books.  Not many yet, but am still collecting….

These books were collected throughout the years and are all Pre-Loved – none was bought new.  I like to think that the previous owners have completed some of the designs and therefore, I am inspired to continuing the tradition.

Honestly, most of the patterns require strength of heart to finish and probably, even to start.  They are, to me, a mountainous endeavour.  But a nice dream, nonetheless.  I know when I finish one, I will be very, very tired – but proud.

At the moment, I am attempting to resume 2 PM projects – one pattern was obtained from Gloria & Pat website and the other from one of the PM books. But I only show you this 1 project, the other does not look like much, and I have mentioned them in a previous post. This ‘Love To You’ pattern can be downloaded for free at Gloria & Pat.

My problem is, as I mentioned before, my bad habit of substituting the floss with another floss of almost similar colour, but never writing down the DMC number. When the floss is lost or misplaced, I’m at a loss!  So, I continue to wonder whether I could ever resume these projects…

My Abandoned Cross Stitch Projects

It started as a dream project, with the intention of framing them to join my other Precious Moments collection.  My love for Precious Moments figurines prompted me to choose the patterns but somehow, other tasks  and tempting designs took over and these poor patterns were forgotten…. for a while.

I recently organised my craft things and was re-acquainted with these unfinished patterns.  I got the little boy pattern for free from Gloria & Pat Designs.  It’s originally for pillows but I want to frame it so that it may adorn my kids’ room.  It requires a lot of effort to finish and I am 70% on the way.  If I could only identify the substitute floss…. You see, I was so excited to start stitching that I didn’t mind substituting the floss with a nearly identical colour.  Then I must have used the floss in another project & forgot not only to put it back but also to write a note about the floss number.  A lesson to remember here – ALWAYS NOTE DOWN THE SUBSTITUTE FLOSS NUMBER!

The second abandoned project is from the Precious Moments’ Cross Stitch Books which I also acquired from Ebay, though I can’t recall the Seller.  I have a few PM books and leaflets in my collection.  But I find it hard to start a new one – I need to finish the little boy first. What’s keeping me?  Other simpler projects, of course….
