I missed the opportunity to do a post last January – by the way, Happy New Year 2011!
The start of 2011 was a hectic time for me. I had ideas in mind, but was too engrossed in all other matters that I forgot to update this blog.
I finished this ‘Just For You’ cross stitch last December, and made the card immediately after. I took some photos of the process and now would like to share them (How To Make Cross Stitch Card) with everybody, hoping that it could be useful to somebody.
I started with choosing the suitable tri-fold aperture card from my fast-dwindling collection.
I tried out the white, light green and at last chose the darker green square card.
Next, I adjusted the cross stitched pattern on the card and marked it with pins. I had to check and re-check the positioning as I repeatedly got the card upside-down, etc. Tricky….
Afterwards, I cut the fabric to size.
As you can see, the pins are still attached to the fabric. They are my markers.
Then, I took a double-sided tape and cut it according to my desired sizes.
I attached the tape to the back of the card window and then after a few more trials, I uncovered the coverings of the tape, took off the pins and attached the front side of the fabric to the tape. Sometimes, the patterns are not nicely positioned, so I just slowly pull it off the tape, reposition and re-attach. No problem!
Once the fabric is nicely secured to the window, I attached more tapes on the back of the fabric and also on the edges of the card. Then, it was finished!
I dearly hope that this simple tutorial helps. I am sure there are better ways of doing this (and explaining the process), so I hope someone would share their ideas with us soon.
Have a nice day!
