Surfing through the internet a few years back, I was delighted to find so many wonderful souls sharing their crafts, joy and ideas with others. So, taking a cue from them, I am also happy to start this Precious Crafts site for a somewhat similar purpose, with a hope that it could assist others in their crafting journey as well as serve as a journal of my crafting activities.
I am a mom of 5, living in the beautiful town of Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia. I have simple dreams, some I have achieved and some I’m still working on. At the moment, I hope to have more time for family trips, crafting, reading and watching movies. I gain pleasures from my family and my surroundings – the soft kisses of the sun, the sounds of the rain, the feel of the wind and all that delight my senses. A finished craft-work, no matter how small, brings me a lot of satisfaction and joy. And I am also very, very happy to find so many Malaysian cross stitchers and crocheters online.
I believe that crafts like beading, macrame, crotchet, knitting, cross stitch, sewing, etc, are Precious Crafts because they are made from the heart and not many people are inclined to spend time on these Precious Crafts anymore (whether as a hobby or profession), unlike say, 20 years ago. And in 20 years’ time our finished crafts are really going to be precious heirlooms in our family, as well. We would be so lucky if such crafts are still around at that time.
Now that I am getting older, I am excited to explore the possibility of embracing new crafts into my life (or at least completing my WIPs), opening my heart, modifying my perceptions, and hoping my kids would join me in this wondrous adventure.
Let’s cultivate all precious crafts together and support the handmade community!
